" Promoting the training of human capital for excellence"
Having highly qualified human capital is vital to be successful in today’s increasingly complex and competitive global environment. As it is well-known, Italy has been failing to take a long-term approach to education, R&D and innovation, and often Italian graduates leave our country to complete their education or find a job abroad.
Fondazione Cariplo has chosen to take a targeted approach in its support to Italian universities, i.e. promote excellence - especially in science & technology. an area which is key to economic growth - by facilitating the access of as many young talents as possible to graduate and post-graduate education & research programs.
Under Action Plan 2 the Foundation supports graduate and post-graduate programs that breed first-rate talents and attract the best graduates from abroad in order to attain improved global competitiveness, economic and social integration. In these programs for the development of human capital, the Foundation does not intervene directly, but channels its resources toward players that are already active in the Lombard university and research system. Preference is given to actions that involve regional and national policy makers in their design in order to build synergies as well as facilitate future effective policies/programs for the development of human capital and scientific research.
